Gary Kendra

Gary Kendra brings over 30 years of legal experience in the areas of corporate law and technology licensing and commercialization.

Before re-entering private law practice in 2002, he most recently served as Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Secretary of Genomic Solutions Inc., a manufacturer of biotechnology research instruments that he helped take public on the NASDAQ exchange. Prior to that, he spent 15 years in medium sized and large Detroit- based law firms specializing in mergers and acquisitions, technology law and commercialization, corporate and real estate law, university technology transfer, and intellectual property transactions. Mr. Kendra’s practice focuses on business start-ups, professional corporations, technology commercialization, M&A, strategic partnerships and joint ventures, and corporate and real estate matters, with emphasis on biotechnology, medical devices and products, software, emerging technologies and e-commerce industries.

Mr. Kendra is a graduate of the Wayne State University Law School where he received a Juris Doctor degree (1986) and Masters of Laws (LLM) in Taxation (1992) and was on the Wayne Law Review. Mr. Kendra’s undergrad studies were at Michigan State University where he received a dual major from James Madison College with a concentration in Socio-Economics and in Economics.

Mr. Kendra has written and lectured extensively on the law and technology, including co-authoring two books for the Institute of Continuing Legal Education. Mr. Kendra is a frequent guest speaker for businesses, incubators and classrooms where he lectures on “Launching a Start Up Technology Company”, “Intellectual Property Basics”, “Intellectual Property and Technology Contracting” and “Faculty Founders in University Spin Outs”, among other topics.

Mr. Kendra is a technologist and futurist with a shared passion for new technologies in a wide variety of business, medical and consumer areas.
